We're getting a taste of what you guys went through a few weeks ago . Three or more times the amount of freezing rain the guessers guessed but they were right on about the wind as usual . Want any firewood HA-HA ? Got a genny from work so now I have a couple space heaters and the computer running . Wish I knew how to wire up the well pump . I'm not even going to try for now . If the power stays out for another day I'll go out and do it . Only been out for about 6 hours now . Good thing it's only a 120 volt pump . I should be able to run it off a extension cord . Anyway , winds blowing hard , tree's are snapping and ice is still coming down , I can see how much fun it was for you all down there ! I see from the radar that southern Mo is getting soaked . So far I can at least get to town but if we get the foot of snow they've been promising it might not be for a couple more days , we'll have to wait and see . Take care ! ...Randy

Randy, just be sure you keep it up that way. I've had enough of the ice and snow for the year and still haven't got it all cleaned up. The weather here today was in the upper 50s and rain but it was very windy. With that pump being 120 volts it should be a snap to hook it up but on my system which is 220 its just not as easy. Yours will have 3 wires, 1 hot, 1 ground and 1 nutrel but that should be easy to figure out

Hey Old just how old are you anyway I'm 68 and I hate it when some young fool calls himself old. Make me feel old and I'm just a kid at heart so age don't mean much to me.

Keith, I went out and started that old 88 the other day when it was around 20 out and I couldn't get my hand off the button before it had fired up. Guess maybe it needs a tune up since it fires up so fast LOL.

Well I'm younger then you but I'm older then the half century mark also. I use the name for a couple reason one has to do with a pony we had that was named oldcoal and the other is because of where I learned what I know. I learned at a young age to keep my mouth shut and ears open when around older people and you can learn a whole lot by doing so

Whatzup Rich? Got that hole fixed in the roof?

Most of the visible ice is gone, still have a layer of ice 3-4 inches under the mud. Rained hard today, here in Pilot Grove Mo. A 4 WD doesn"t have a chance, with that layer of ice under the surface. Got my 4 WD stuck just west of my house. had to walk to the other farm to get the D-2 Cat. It"s light enough and has enough surface area that it will still bridge over the crap and I got the truck out. Almost out of hay with none to be had for hundreds of miles. I"ll get by with some ground corn and range cubes. Looking forward to summer.

I have a temp patch on it right now, I have to wait till temps stay above 50 to get it done. As far as hay I still have 9 or 10 bales and there the 6X6 bales. In my area right now a 4X4 bale is selling for $100. Guess I should have held on to my extra till around now and I could have made a killing. I sold 4 of them to the guy up the road an agreed on a price then and I still owe him one more. I figure I'll maybe use 1 or 2 more my self and that will have me with 6 or 7 left over for next year.

Where I live in NW Iowa we have about a quarter inch of ice and the lights have only blinked a couple times. The radar shows us in a kind of a hole with all the precip circling around us. Hope it doesn't do this next summer. Jim

Yeah but that ice is slick.

Went to Spirit lake to a sale today and did get sideways once recovered though.

Lots of snap on stuff but was bringing off the truck prices. Hung around for the 12 foot step ladder that was advertised, was told "Oh the family decided to keep that" AAARRRRGGGGGHHHH.

Saw two rigs in the ditch between Sioux Rapids and hwy 10. One was a semi that darn near tested the ice on that little pond.

Stay home jim

Weather guy just delivered his prognostication for west Michigan. Southern half will be getting freezing rain and wind. We're north-east of Grand Rapids, they're talking 3 to 6" overnite with wind gusts to 45mph! Further on, the low will settle over Chicago, and they're talking a foot of snow by Tuesday am, with plenty of wind. I fueled up the diesel pickup/snowplow this afternoon, and we went to the sawmill and picked up a trailer load of fairly dry sawdust for bedding for the rabbits. Randy, wish you could just keep your nasty weather! Looks like it will be miserable in Michigan plenty soon enuff! Our church has a no cancellation policy - guess who's getting up at 5:00am to go plow the lot?

Mark, I live in Oskaloosa and the trees are snapping like crazy here. Every tree is covered in ice, bent over and hanging its head like its praying for some relief. A bunch of them are taking the power lines down. Our married kids and their little boy are spending the night in a local motel. Their street is blocked with limbs and the power is out. Town looks like a bomb hit it.
It still isn't as bad as those poor folks had it in Oklahoma there a few weeks ago. That was BAD!

Sounds like that storm isn"t going to quit till it hits the ocean. We"ve got a winter storm watch in New Jersey with sleet and 3-6 inches of snow predicted for Sunday night. Good luck out there!
