Been under 10 deg. F all day, snowing hard, with fine snow, then big snow, then sleet ( must be some warmer air in the mix up there ) never thought I'd see sleet on a day like today.

Powdery snow, and the last bit we got did not compact much, ground was frozen before and the cold has been consistent, we may end up with 18" + of ice on the big pond.

Not a day for an open cab, although I don't mind it as long as I can hop off and get warmed up somewhere nearby, winter has finally shown up, back in early January it did not seem like we were going to get any cold or snow.

This will make for some nice skiing in nearby Vermont, might finally be time to hit the slopes.

Imagine what this would be like if climate change and global warming WEREN'T real?
Microclimates will always vary from the macroclimates, but Al is correct that global temperatures are rising. (so some places will have butt-freezing cold and snow while others are missing winter)

So I take it you guys don't live near the 10 foot plus snow area?

Randy

Those folks are south and east of Lake Ontario. This came from the south. The wind is starting to really get going now from the north west so those areas will now get more heavy lake effect on top of this storm! We're just far enough south that we miss most of the lake effect, just an occasional little lick.

We probrobly have at least 15" on the ground now and its still coming down. I went out about 10am
and started, should have gone out at4am but I was
busy sleeping. The Power King would have gotten it
eventually, but one of the neighbors came along and
helped push it back. Just came back from my son's place down the road, and luckily he had his 4wd
Boomer with a loader going and had already plowed.
The picture is about 3 weeks old before the big
snow today .
