was all set to start tearin' down the to-20 today. next thing i know...wham! i'm crawlin' around in the attic looking for the ceiling light fixture box in our bedroom to beef it up for a ceiling fan. and when i say crawl...i mean belly crawl...(lotta belly.)

right after coffee, just as i was afixin' to head back down to the shop, i got called over to look at the new ceiling fan "you know who" had stashed away, obviously waiting for the moment of my attempted escape! now i'm flippin' thru about twenty pages of instructions for a stupid ceiling fan...when did THESE things get so complicated? i haven't pointed a wrench, torch, or wire wheel ata tractor in nearly a month! could she be drugging my food? i hope YOU got something done tractor wise...it was at least warm today even tho it rained.

Hey Mike,

She is supposed to call me back tomorrow. I will ask about the latch mechanism. I enjoy working with her. She runs a salvage business, so her prices won't ever be as cheap as an individual. The plus side is that she will give you as much service and help on a $10 part as you get on a $200 part. Also, she knows her Ferguson parts very well. That is a great help to me since my tractor terminology is about like my mechanical skills - more enthusiasm than ability!

Hey Mike,

The secret is not to talk to them. It is a well-known fact that women have much better verbal skills than men. By the time we have figured out where the conversation is going, we are already committed. I think that is how I ended up married in the first place!

I actually did accomplish a little today. I had a couple of minor parts to get painted. I also have potentially got another cylinder head located. I will know for sure tomorrow.

I asked the lady to take a look and see if she had a fan shroud on the tractor where they were pulling the head. If she does, I will let you know about the price. She isn't cheap, but she knows her parts and can usually get what you need.

I still haven't talked myself into attacking the rust yet. I keep telling myself that I will feel more energetic by the next day. This cold sure has got its money's worth from me. (If snot was worth a dollar a pound, I could buy all the parts I ever needed!).

Good luck on the ceiling fan!

Larry

hey walt...ya, we'll have ceiling fans in every room in the house by the time she's done with me. i have to admit i think they're great too. we've just added a large covered front porch on our house 40'x8', and she made me wire the ceiling of that for two more of 'em outside the house. i've even taken old ones that i've replaced from the house and hung them in my shop. (after i remove the frilly little light fixtures that is) so much of my heat gets trapped way up in the inside of the peak i need them to push it back down to me. even with air conditioning, i like that little breeze blowing on me in bed in the summer time. i guess it makes me feel like the windows are open or something.

Those ceiling fan on the porch are nice, but you gotta be careful. I don't think the indoor ones would survive very long out in the moisture and temp changes. If nothing else, the finish would pit and rust. They make exterior ceiling fans that aren't too much more expensive. Good luck.

I.T.D...oh she knows about those outdoor fans already. i'm sure she's got some picked out by now, and maybe even bought just waitin' for me to make a move toward my shop again.

thanks,
-mike
