I once tried different things like putting a piece of wood on it with an oil jack and a chain wrapped around the engine for a few days but it didn"t work. Then I got frusterated and used a hockey puck put on top of the piston with a piece of wood on top of that and then used a sledge hammer and some brute force and it worked.

I know a person who used a rosebud around the top outer edge of stuck cast iron pistons. worked and piston look ok but I wonder if they were weakened.

We freed 330ih with air, hooked air line 1 and 4 cylinders. We had removed the rocker arm to close
the valves, added 125# rocked crank it broke loose. Then we moved the air to 2&3 and turned a full rev" had it not moved we were going to hook hot water to water jacket to expand the cylinder walls.

Won't be the first time that pistons had to come out in pieces. Seems like everyone has there own special blend or brand of penetrating oil that works for them everytime. I'm here to tell you that none of that stuff worked on a couple of engines I tore down.

Filling the block with boiling hot water might help. I have never had a whole lot of luck with any of the mouse milk concoctions. Usually wind up pulling the rod caps slipping the inserts out so that there is a little slack and applying a block of wood and a BFH.

The boiling water idea sounds interesting. For two years now I have been soaking a stuck F20 with every magic concoction suggested on this site and it hasn't budged yet. Jim

A friend of mine used dry ice on top of the piston and it freed up in just a few minutes. The ice makes the metal shrink and come away from the sleeve.

Dry ice mixed with methyl alcohol is even colder. -126F or so if memory serves.
