Its tax time..... ..... . and the wife is allowing me to buy a tractor to replace the farmall a I sold last fall. Favs to replace are another Farmall, jd a or b or the allmighty 435,pretty much any ford, or a super 99 oliver if I can find 1 thats kinda hurt. Where is the best place to find these sort of items without feeling like a had a visit from roto-rooter? I am not rich by any means jus a middle aged guy who has great respect for the way things used to be. I do live IN the village so it becomes an issue of having a buttload of non running stuff around..... I hope in these ramblings that youze guys can understand what im tryin to say here..... ..... .. help!!!!!

Check out Fastline Publications. They have a website and I'm sure they will be at the National Farm Machinery Show next week. They have regional issues with a lot of equipment listed. Old, new, and in between.

I would go south. Everyone in Michigan seems to want a lot of money for their stuff although with the economy here in the dumper you may find something.

Scott, find yourself a little ford 4000 or something along those lines. They have modern engines, are good running, easy to get on and off, three point hitch, move snow very well, power steering. As much as I like farmalls they are not the handiest thing for doing multiple tasks and they don't exactly fit in a small garage either like a ford does. I have a ford 9n and as much as that has been good for stuff I wouldn't mind getting a 4000 to update a bit.

I agree with ya .. but grew up learnin how to drive on an 8n ford at gramma's or a case 730 comfort king out at unkie's out west of Traverse. those 2 are very high on my list (give my left nut to know where gramma's tractor went and unkie still uses his case). I also want to be sure to get hydraulics and a non belt pto so it can be USED!!!!! !
