Price difference in decals?

I was doing a little searching on the web for a decal set for a 1086 I'm thinking of repainting.

Only one company had the red stripe decals that I need. Buuutttt

The same basic decals for a 966 from one place are $39 and the other company was asking $89.

Is there that much difference in decals?

Or is one company just getting rich?

The decals looked identical.

Gary

I buy my decals from a custom vinyl cutting shop near here in North Iowa. All I have to do is give the gal a picture and dimensions of the ones I need and she duplicates using UV resistand vinyl. If you need some, e-mail her at signsbyred@wctatel.net. good quality at a really fair price.

I know the decals for the early 66' series are fairly salty but then again the International emblem and the size emblem are really thick as opposed to the later black striped decals. Also the old one are a real bear to remove because of the extra thickness. I gotta go, that dork Randy is on my back again. Shut up Randy this is my day off man

I don't know about IH decals, perhaps with IH you don't get grossly incorrect decals passed off as "original type" like you can with John deere.

Especially with the decals for the styled letter series tractors, John Deere decals often come with decals not correct or apprpriate for your tractor. Primarily these are decals for things like "CUSTOM POWRTROL" for a tractor not having that type of hydraulics, or the decal cautioning you about a pressurized coolant system when YOUR tractor is thermosyphon.

Lots of those JD decal sets are totally generic, and contain decals somewhat like every decal used from 1939-1952, all in one set. This is how you get to see a 1941 JD A with the infamous "Black Ball" model designator on it---something which makes the owner appear foolish!

With decals, you get what you paid for. Some cheap decals are a lot like that cheap paint some people use. they fade with time, MUCH faster than they ought to!

I really do hope that Farmallers don't have to deal with grossly incorrect decal sets, but I see that right along side of those "wrong to buy" JD decal sets at TSC and other places. I see AC and IH decal sets from the same maker, so, perhaps IH buyers can get taken as well!

Listen, Gary...take my advise on this one! I bought some decals for a John Dere B on ebay, I knew we were going to use them sooner or later the tractor was in the yard waiting to go in the shop. Make a long story short, I got a great deal like $18.00 for the set. Paid no attention when i got them, had them sitting on my desk in the sunlight for 6 weeks about. When I went to use then the yellow faded out of the John Deere lettering. Then i noticed it was NOT an -official licenced product-. Look for that when you buy...I wasted $18.00.DTURKE

The decals that are sold by a lot of dealers usually come from the same manufacture. With a price mark up.

Someone may put his info on the board.

Seems like you are right Sammy.

The decals for that 1066 I just painted were over $90 from IH.

The ones I got where $40 and they look the same to me.

If those decals look the same to you, then its a value to you, but it looks totally wrong to me, and I would redo them myself.

Gary, Check with Bermuda Ken on the Red Power web site. I believe he said Carter Gruenwald had the red power decals. Denny

Thanks Denny I'll do that.

Do they have that Red Power logo with the circle around it?
