Here is a picture of the block upside down. We removed pistons, sleeves, crank, etc. The lower o-ring on the #3 cylindar did have a big hole in it. One other one looked very questionable. My son said the machine shop called today to say the head was not cracked and is proceeding to recondition it. The crank had to be ground to 0.010 under. Gee, that surprised me, I thought it looked pretty good. It was the best one I've seen out of the 2-3 I have seen before. You can tell I'm a novice at this, huh. Paul

Looks like you are moving right along. That block looks just one I am rebuilding fo rmy JD 401 b industrial. Could you do me a favor, and see if the hole for your oil pump pick up tube in the block has a O ring. Mine didn't. I think they may have forgot it on my motor. Thanks Stan

Now go the next step and power wash the crap out of the block while it is upside down. Then take a tap and chase ALL the tapped holes in the block.

I appreciated hearing about your 2510. This is also a Powershift and I love it. I like to cut hay for the nieghbor with his IH 990 mower conditioner, the power shift makes it really fun. As you know you just have to move the lever a notch as you encounter varying conditions. The neighbors wife and my daughter call this tractor "their" tractor because it is so easy and fun to drive. paul your more in to it than i would so it to late turn back now.you will love it when all hard work done, just need to figger out what you are goung to do with it. got 2510 d with powershift, pulls 224w square baler like a charm also have a kuhn 700 cutter on dolly, powershift makes cutting or baling so much fun shift up in lite and down shift doun in large stuff. if has loader (like mine #48) staying behind a round baler will keep you in eight gear.so check and repair seat while down.mines complete and working every day less battery boxes. joe

Paul, I agree it will be worth every penny you spend on it now while it's down. Just too handy a tractor to have sitting still too long. :)

Less battery boxes Joe? We can't have that when aftermarket ones don't cost too much and you can also get some nice boxes from Wellington tractor to take wider regular 12V that slips right on too. They both come with universal bolt on brackets.
