This dozer is pulling my hair out, sometimes when you start it, you will have pressure for the transmission, it will run and operate fine, other times you start it , you dont have anything and it wont untrack itself. I dont think I have transmission trouble or converter trouble, it has a small supply pump on the front of the motor for the tranny, I dont know if my problem is that or in between, thanks in advance for any advice.

We had one a few years ago. If its the same ours had a Buda Diesel 4D344. The trans on ours used a hand clutch, direct drive to two steering clutch packs that were dry. Eventually with some dirt and moisture in the clutch rust together. And the bad thing is that the teeth on the fiberous steering clutches breaks away. Thus a dozer that will do nothing but go in a circle. Or if both went it will do nothing. I found a set of steering clutches for ours at $3,200.00. And that was cheap compared to other places. So the repair exceeded what she was worth and we parted it out. Please post what you find, the pump you are referrring to on the front of the crank runs the hydraulic system. good LUCK DTURKE

totally unfamiliar with the system in question,,but in one instance of working on hyd.units i did have the same symptoms you are referring to. i finally tracked it down to a piece of rubber that was hanging up the spool inside a valve body,,causing the itermittent go no-go of the unit.
