PayPal scam again

My daughter got an email from the paypal scammers tonight. This one was a little more scary in that it had her credit card number and name and address in it and she was supposed to contact them to verify her account. She didn't open it of course and quickly called and had her credit card number changed and changed the password to her paypal account. She has an internet business and uses paypal to collect her payments. We think they might have gotten the information from another business she had given her credit card number to for an order. She has the paypal account set so she can transfer the funds into her checking account. Any thoughts on a better way of handling that?

I have used PayPal for years now and have never had any problem other than those e-mails wanting me to give them my personal data. One should remember that a company that has your data in their computer really doesn't need to ask you for it.
If they loose it then you just can't use their service until you go on their web site and correct it.

PS why do I get all those E-mails asking me about my B of A account I haven't had one of those in over 30 years.

I keep getting emails wanting me to verify my 5th 3rd bank info. I am not a 5th third bank customer.

That is interesting. I have an internet ordering business for my freezer beef and decided not to use Pay-Pal because a lot of people are reluctant to use it and don't have accounts, even though now you do not need one to use it I guess. I got a merchant account through GoDaddy.com and can accept Visa and American Express through that. It is a much more secure system and one almost all consumers use.

I have a separate account for paypal. I never have and will not use my main checking for a paypal transaction. I put just enough in the account for what I am buying and if I am selling something I remove it right after it goes in. That way if there is a problem it dosent affect anything else. Pay pal has been known to lockdown an account during a discrepancy and keep what ever money is in it frozen for a few months. I do the same thing with my business and personal account. I keep my business money in an account with no debit cards. Then I filter money in to my checking/debit as needed. That way if someone gets my debit card they wont get much. We have internet banking with a local bank and my wife can move money in a few seconds between accounts. Works real slick.
