VH4D oil leak

I have a New Holland Skid Loader with a VH4D engine. The oil leaks out from around the filter. The Ford mechanic told me that the gaskets were not any good on these filters. Has anyone else had this problem and what kind of gasket did you use to repair it?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks

How bad is the leak? I have the same engine in a '68 Hesston 330 that leaked around where the cylinders went into the block. I put some Lucas oil treatment in and it all but stopped the leak.

I'd agree with KEH about changing out the filter holder. Lots of used parts for those engines online places like ebay and others too so should be no problem to find another one. Might try another filter brand too but I doubt that helps it.

Yes this is a Wisconsin air cooled 4 cylinder. I've had the oil changed twice by two different mechanics and the filters keep leaking. This was done by New Holland dealers so I assume they used the right filters. One mechanic told me I should use a better gasket as these filters always leak but he didn't know where to get one. Thanks

That is a wisconsin air cooled V4 isn't it? Was years ago, but as I remember it, the Wisconsin engines used several diferent filters. Are you sure you have the right one? Some were hard to find.

The only experience I had with a v4 Wisconsin was years ago on a NH 77 baler. It leaked around the filter because the threads in the pot metal filter holder were worn and I couln't get the filter tight enough. Solved the problem by putting a new iron filter holder on it.
