Can anybody help me with identifying the following Lucas dynamo? It is a C45 P10 part no. 224458 This number is strange since all the Lucas part numbers I have seen have had 5 figures, this has 6. I cannot even say with certainty that it is a tractor dynamo but would guess that it is. There are no ventilation holes. It has a bakelite cable entry on top. I can send a picture file to anyone who thinks they may be able to help but you'd better have broadband and Winzip to open it.
Thanks, John.

Darkness brought to you by Lucas Electric..... ..or Lucas the Prince of Darkness. British motor vehicle and machine electrical systems built by Lucas Electric Electric are noted around ther world for regular failure.

Sorry, I should have said: I want to know what this dynamo will fit, what it was originally intended for.

For the sake of conversion lets assume your # is really 22495B then it would be for a 1959-61 British Massey Harris 780. Now if your #s are spot on I can't figure it out.Good Luck!

The numbers are definitely spot on, I found out today that early Lucas part numbers did go around in gangs of six, later ones in fives.

Thanks for trying Duner. I am in England and maybe the part numbers are different in the US? This Dynamo has been in stock in my family's garage business for fifty years, it's about time I shifted it!

My book is from Canada and is 41 years old. It goes back to the mid 1940s. It covers cars, trucks, tractors. It is an application guide for the aftermarket. Sure wish I could help but out of ideas for now.
