Hi Gang;
You can see your home-area from satelite by looking at Google Earth. Its a free website you just have to log on to :-
www.google earth
You can search for anywhere in the World by entering a zipcode and the view will show you the area from the sky. The control on the top right of the screen lets you zoom in or out for a clear view, and you can move around the area - up & down, left & right. Its facinating viewing - look at the Grand Canyon.
If anyone wants to see where I live enter:-
SA42 0SU.
It will take you over the ocean and zoom in on my part of Wales.
Have fun guys, David

Hi David,
I've been enjoying all your pictures. My uncle was stationed in Ireland during WWII. He said it was the greenest place he'd ever been. Looks like Wales enjoys similar scenery. Coordinates for my farm are 40 39'19"N 80 19'58"W. Zoom in to about 4700 feet and you can see most of it. The image was made spring of 2005.
Phil

If Google has that much data. Just suppose what the government knows about you, what you are doing and what's around you?

David,That "Grand Canyon" of which you are amazed is about 3 1/2 Hrs north of us. A Favorite Weekend Trip with the RV is to go US 89 north to Lees Ferry-cross the River[Colorado] and go to Jacobs lake Campground [7000' Elv]. Spend time doing the RVers thing-Go to the North Rim and spend as much time as we want-Enjoy things- Go Home refreshed,with a new perspective and appreciation for our Great Country. If you have never been to the Grand Canyon by all means try to fit it into" Your things to do in my lifetime Schedule" See Ya' John

A friend of mine used to have a beautiful wife and a nice home, everything a man could want.

Then he told the wife he thought it was likely that he could see his mother in law on Google Earth and now he's doing his own laundry and eating ramen noodles.

  - Google Earth - my zip code in reply to David in Wales, 01-24-2007 10:58:36
Hi Charlie;
you need to enter correct zip code with capitals & numbers as below:

SA42 0SU

0 = zero on numbers line on key board NOT capital O next to P !!! Understand?

Play around with the dial & + - lines top right of screen to move in & out etc.
Post back and let me know how you get on.
If you send me your email, I will email the photo back to you.

Give Link a try. At least where I live in rural western Oregon the satellite photos are of higher resolution.

I didn`t know about maps.live.com before. In my area at least, the resolution may be a little better than google earth but, it is b/w on maps.live.com and color on google earth and the google earth photos are at least 2 years newer. Neighbor dug a pond 2 years ago and maps.live does not show any earth work, while google earth use to have a photo of the pond under construction, but now the photo shows the pond done and full.

Hi Walt;
From your earlier reply, I thought you lived in Monmouth in east Wales - not the USA !
Been and looked at your place, will look at others who give their area codes.
Cheers David

Hi Charlie;
If you look at my "address" on Google, its a little fuzzy. Zoom out until it becomes claerer.
We live in the village west of the main through road - down towards Dinas Island Farm
Its not a true island today - a marshy istmus connects the island to the mainland.
The Island is 640 acres in total, about 300 acres ploughable. Istmus is sea level, top of island is 460 feet above sea level. Faces south and is one of the best farms in the County of Pembrokeshire.
You can play with those controls on the top right of the screen and turn the overhead view into a side view, and scan all around the island.
Have fun.
David
