I am looking at this GMC C7 flatbed truck. It has an Allison transmission. It drives and shifts ok except it is slow to go into reverse sometimes. Is this serious? What is the problem?

The fluid and filter have been changed, but it still does it. Could it be anything else?

While I"m not familiar with Allisons, the answer is almost certainly yes, but what?? Did you see the fluid/filter change? (a look at the fliud/filter would"ve told a lot about maintenence, or was it changed in an effort to fix the problem?).Was the trans fully warmed up when slow shift? was shift slipping ,smooth or harsh when it took up? Suggestions: run archives on Chev/GMC truck sites for Allison shift problems (it could be a "normal" idiosyncrasy), and drive to GMC dealer for talk with service manager (it"s possible owner has already done so, and that"s why it"s for sale!). Good luck.
