I can't comment on a website, but I've got a 1995 Camry four door with the four cylinder 2.2 liter engine. If I set the cruise at 65 MPH on the freeway with the AC off and windows up I can consistently get 37-38 MPG; with AC on driving 75+ MPH I get around 32 MPG. City- I get around 25 MPG depending on how I drive.

I bought my Camry with 130K and it now has 180K; I have done nothing other than routine maintenance. The engine runs like a top and the car drives great. I test drove several used Malibus and Impalas from the same vintage before purchasing the Camry. I was very impressed with the Camry- everything seems more well designed and solid (no rattles, vibrations, etc). One word of advice- be careful looking at V6 Camrys from the same vintage- I have been told they had sludge problems. Stick with the four cylinder- it's bullet-proof.

Just my advice from a former 'American-only' mentality buyer. Good luck with whatever you decide.

The EPA gas mileage figures are OK FOR COMPARISON, but keep in mind they're "determined" under the best possible (unreal) conditions: Car on dyno, completely warmed up, inside warmed building, no wind resistance, straight level RPMs, tires pumped up, you name it, even reports company techs allowed to fiddle the settings if mileage not satisfactory (to the builder). Unless their "tests" have been greatly modified recently, they're more fantasy than reality.

Pretty much guaranteed that the Camry will get at least twice the MPG, maybe 3 times better. Will the fuel cost savings equal the cost of licensing and insuring a second vehicle?

My brother had one of those, but think it was an earlier variety. Don"t know about the mileage, but it ran like a top and had good power for a four-banger. He passed it on to one of his kids and it"s still on the road with over 200,000 miles.

Girlfriend has the car you describe... she loves it. She's gotten as much as 36mpg on the interstate usually at least 30 on the highway. 22 to 25 in the city.

I run Mobil 1 10w30 with a 4000 mile change interval. They can have oil gel problems with regular oil. Takes 3.8 quarts.

It has a drain plug at the bottom of the transmission. I drain/add 2 quarts of ATF with every oil change. There isn't really a filter inside... just a screen. I do take the pan off once and a while to clean it up.

Change the timing belt every 60-90 thousand miles. Other then that, tires, battery, and CV boots is about all you'll have to worry about.

She plans to drive it forever. Excellent little cars ! I wish I had a '96 two door.
