Just wondering if anyone was planning to attend the World Ag Expo in turlane , Ca. My wife and I are thinking about going , has anyone been, is it worth going. We need suggestions and ideas of other things to see in the area. The show is Feb 13-15. We're considering flying to Las Vegas and driving across to Turlane. What do you think?

If you're going to "Vegas" it would be close to a 1/2 day driving trip over to Tulare, but sure worth it if you're farm orientated and maybe not having the best luck there in the gambling joints. There won't be any lodging there close and you'ld surely would want to "stay over" somewhere. (Try phoning ahead or getting reservations right now in that area) It's a huge show..as Ed Sullivan used to say "Really Big Sheowww". Kinda slanted toward California farming...dairying, fruit and nut orchards and vineyards, vegtables and rice growing, but not entirely. I went a couple of times when I lived in the "Big Valley" and really enjoyed it. Some of the displays and exhibits are just amazing. It was very interesting for this midwestern raised farm boy. Good antique Farm Equipment Show there in April on the very same grounds too. Huge dairies around there, no. 1 area in the country for dairying....claim it's bigger than 'ol Wisconsin. (End of California Sales Pitch).

I live about 45 min. north of the ag show in Tulare. I've been going for years! I think I only missed the first one or two. I go at least two days because you can't walk past every booth in one day and if you stop to talk or look a little, it requires two days. The diversification is hard to imagine. Every phase of agriculture is represented. The local industry is somewhat favored inculding daries, stone fruit, citrus, grapes, and all of the support industries. I always look forward to the "National Holiday" A couple of years back friends came from Idaho. It took them all three days to cover their interests.

I was thiking of going, it is a 4-5 hr drive from where I live. If you fly to Los Vegas that will be a good road trip this time of the year. In the summer time it is very hot over the desert which a lot of the road is. Might see you there. Stan
