What I was assuming was a WD, might actually end up being a combination. Serial # 200937. Bolt on plate right side of engine. Straight shifter handle. The serial number is taken off the top of the transmission just forward of the shifter and also K-24-P3 was there. Any help? Thanks

Thanks for your help with the location of the serial number. Still tough to see with the paint buildup. WD51271 is the number so that puts it at a 1950 WD. It took us 2 tries to load it a month ago, rear wheels locked up. 30 miles on a trailer and I rolled her into the garage, its almost like she didnt want to leave home. After a week of scraping thick rust out of the carb she runs like a champ. All I need now is power adjust rims and tires. Thanks for your help and thanks to this site.

Serial number for a WD or WD 45 will be at the left brake cover or left axel housing. Should start with WD******.

Bolt on side plate makes it a WD engine, stright shifter again makes it a WD. Serial number on a WD is on the left back side of the rear axle just below the brake cove plate. Now if the engine didn't have that plate then its a WD45 engine. If it had a curved shifter it could be either a late WD or a WD45 since the Wd the last year or so had the carved shifter also
