Hello . my name is David and have although know litte about them and never sold here in the UK have developed a keen interest in Ebro tractors and am looking to find out as muc as I can about them . The first thing I want to know about is the 684-E . Waht few photographs I have here at home in books are all in Black and White altough colout scemes are mentioned in some cases . I have seen a picture of the 684 on this sight and it appears to be in the Massy Fergason red and grey livery . Was this model always in this colour or did they eventually become blue and silver ? Next , I take it that I am right in asumming it was a six cylender engine of 82hp fitted . Also when did this style of bonnet come out ? The nex thing I would like to ask is that I ahve also seen a picture of an EBRO 6100 , this time in blue and silver . No doubt a six cylender and probably 100 hp . Can anybody tell me anything more about these models ? Obviously going back to the old Forson Major type Ebro 55 they were of the blue and white colours . Were they exactly the same shades as the Fordson tractors to whom they were made under licnece from ? Or did they use a slightly different shade of blue and white ? Also did the always have white of as ford call grey wheels and fenders . Only in a book I have about the old Fordson E1A majors there is a picture of an Ebro 55 which despite being in black and white it is clear to see theat the wheel and fenders are the same colour as the rest of the tractor . Staying with colour , on the Massy Fergason bonnet style Ebros they would normally have been MF red and grey . But were they always lie this or were some of the early ones also blue ? Another thing I have noticed is that all the pictures that I have found they always seem to have underneath exaust pipes . Did they also have pipes going upwards ? Another point . FWD or 4WD if you like . Did Ebros ever see four wheel drive like with Selene od Roadless conversiion kits ? Also the Ebro 55 , along with the usual 12x38 rear tires , were they also offered with 14x30 rear tires . I want to buy and build a model of an Ebro 55 and I want to have 14x30 rears on it Getting to my last two points , first , waht is the biggest tractor that Ebro have ever made ? And second , do Ebro still exist ? Be a good thing if there has ever been a book published on Ebro .If anybody could answere any of these points then please do at mrdbroad@hotmail.com Thanks David . Hi;
The earliest Ebro that I have seen was a slightly modified Fordson Super Major, the line having been sold to Ebro in Spain. Main difference was the handbrake mechanism was ommitted, just used the SM T shaped lift-up brake locking device. They were New Performance SM blue & light grey colour, though the paint fades differently with the higher levels of sunlight. They also made a narrow version with reduced width trumpet housings.
Later version was SM transmission & rear end mated to MF165 Perkins engine !
A handfull were imported into the UK but all were later re-exported when they decided not to market them fully in UK.
The Fo Mo Co lettering on the castings was changed to EBRO.
Ford did import some replacement engines from EBRO to fit Majors which can be found to-day.
The Ebro factory was taken over by Kubota who planned to build tractors in Spain for Europe, a venture that didnt work out.
