Used to get all exited about running tractor moving snow. But with lots of vehicles and lamposts to work around at these properties, the fun wears off faster than it used to. Got about 10 inches yesterday and now our friend the wind is returning and gusts to 40mph and wind chill of -8 should make it interesting. I'm thinking about 2 p.m. I could use a couple of relief drivers so I can take a nap. Give me a shout. Migraine

Sure, anytime. I haven't seen so much as a snowflake here in ages and we normally have a fair bit by now. I bought a new (well, it was in 1954) tractor with a plow blade on it about a month ago and it hasn't had to do anything. If you're getting tired of it just send some up here to eastern Canada. Probably make the skiing a bit smoother as well:) tractorsam

After a year in the sandbox of wester Iraq, moving a little snow, even on an open station tractor sounds like a lot of fun. I'm sure that fun would last about 10 minutes before I started complaining about the cold. Y'all stay warm.

Semper Fi,

Ray

My standard reply about the whether this time of year, last couple of years is:

"I used to love the winter when I was younger, but now that I am older and busier, not so much"

And I used to like it for the same reason as you did, it gave me a reason to use the tractor.

And we have had lots of snowy winters in Central Mass. since about 1991.

This year, I feel like we up an moved down south. Prolonged period of record and near record warmth - one cold day today, back to balmy weather tommorrow.

It is kinda weird, but like I say, now that I am not such a spring chicken, I'll take it.

Winters were OK until I became a homeowner and a fireman and started driving all the time, now they just make me tired.

Price of Bananas going up!! in reply to migraine, 01-11-2007 07:04:38
Hey Migraine, Ya dint close that durn door again. We just recieved our first snow, a whopping inch. Ya just had to let it drift our way, huh. Now all the bananas here in the banana belt are going to fall off the VINES...:>(

PS..Price of bananas are now on the rise...:>)

And not enough snow to fire up the tractor to clean out drive..OH well.

I do that with a Farmall M. Open station is BAD.

After our two storms in Colorado my left leg is now twice as strong as my right. I'd trade the dog for a cab, live hydraulics and shuttle shift!
