and burning brush, and possibly building on to my shop.City officials are going to agressivly try to get my eight acres and the whole north side of town into the city limits.Funny this is happening right after the mayors re election.Wonder how much raise they will vote thierselves after we are annexed.Guarentee someone is going to have thier back pocket padded in some way after this. All my neighbors including me DO NOT want it.We weren't even notified of thier first vote,I heard about ten minuits before the meeting was in session.I despise(spelling)small town politics and how they try to cover up the real reasons they want to annex by sugar coating you with bull. We'll have police protection wooooo ohooo,we had it already from the county. We won't have to pay the 75 dollars in fire protection for rural households either, man I can feel my wallet getting bigger already.Has it happened to you?Smiles here.

Live a short distance west of Larry in IL. Tear downs is all the rage around this area. Home between 250 and 350M are put in a 30 yard roll off in about one day and up springs a 750 to 1 Million $$$ 3500 sq ft 3 car garage home. NO open land so if you want live in the village just buy a good house and remove it and put a barn on a 50 by 150 lot.

Got to go see the prez stick. 68/69 vet.

Dang I am right on the other side and didn't hear anything of this, even at TJ"s sunday and that is saying something!! Sounds like ya'll need to be at the next meeting and express your opinons on how the first vote was done and your other thoughts in the annexation in general. However, being as I know where you are I will agree that your right and they will probably do it whether you really like it or not unless you all get a lawyer ( expensive) and fight it like the Adams did on their farm.

It all boils down ot tax money that the city wants, plus then they can charge you more for other services. As for building onto your shed it shouldn't bother that although you might have to get a permit or something. well ok it will bother you as in more money but...never mind.

I am pretty sure within the next 10-15 yrs I'll see this area out here annexed (probably by Martin) but I am hoping I am far enough back from the highway and those apartments up the road that they will stop before getting to me.

If all else come on out here and hunt. If ya see some coyotes or wild dogs get them too.:)

My 6.5 acre estate that I've owned for nearly 44 years is just inside Cook County (Chicago).
Last year my taxes went to just over $13K. Luckly, the area I'm in is lower than surrounding area and a lift station would need to be put in for sewer lines. Too expensive, City dosen't want us. So for that kind of $ I get fire, police and library.....God life is good, especially when I think back 44 years wondering how I was going to pay the $99.00/month house payment!

Sorry to here of that. I am forutunate that the county I live had placed restrictions on the new construction etc. I live in Baker County, FL and we are growing like everyone else. Luckily we have a bunch of county commissioners that like the rural life and intend to keep it that way.

See google earth link for my swamp bottom. Long time before any zoning comes my way. I am concerned now as DEPT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION and STATE are looking to include my land in Osceola Natl Forest. Not sure of those implications yet but I can be sure PRIVATE LAND hunting rules will change once inside Nat'l Forest Boundaries. Boundaries are if you look east of the place mark you can see the tractor playground (open dirt field). Go N of the place mark to back of the clearcut and that is back boundary. Property is shaped like an L with tractor playground as eastern border and western border the width of clear cut. Come S on West edge of clearcut to the road ("ess" S curve) and you are on S border.

Link to 14409 Jack Dugger Road, Sanderson, FL.

Clear as mud?

The real reason the city wants to annex your property is so they can collect property taxes from you. If you are paying city property taxes, the city is obligated to provide the same exact services to you that any other city property owner recieves, which means the city will have to connect you to the municipal water and sewer. Does the city have plans to do that?

I have been on city water and sewer since I have been there in 95.My water bill is about twenty dollars a month higher than people in the limits.Water pressure is awful,45 minuits to fill up the tub and won't supply a 2200lb pressure John Deere pressure washer. It will suck the water hose closed.I had to get off cable years ago because it couldn't be depended on,wind, lightening shut it down constantly. They tried it years ago but one of the landowners hired a lawyer and beat it.I don't know how because it was before I moved there but he did win once.

Must be nice were you live. Here they don't HAVE to connect you to anything. They can make it available to you if you are in areas of sufficient density but even then you will pay thru the nose for the hook up.

You definately will pay for it here also. Even if you have a perfectly good septic system. Septic systems are no longer legal within city limits.

Yeah, I saw it coming. Years ago the city near me tried to "square up its boundrys". The city had no provision for agricultural or hobby farm zoning....No animals, period!!! Several of us petitioned the neighborhood involved and had a sizable list with a majority against anexation. City dropped plans at that time.
Go forward a few years I decided to sell the place, grab the mmoney and run to the hills. Investigate the laws involved, you may have a way to stall it. Good luck. Remember, the worst words you want to hear is "I am from the government and I am here to help you."

they more than likely have long range plans for your property, either for commercial, residential, or building schools. with eminant domain, they decide YOUR land is better for them than what you are doing with it. we lost half our homestead farm several years ago cause the town needed a school. they condemed the parcel they wanted, nothing you can do but pull up stakes and move as far away from town as to can.

This is why I bought a place that will not be annexed within the remainder of my lifetime.
