I know, I'm cheap.

My old Powershot is somehting like 15-17 years old and the rotary switch is starting to not make connection at times.

'Spose I can take the thing apart and give 'er a good dose of tuner cleaner? Or, is that gonna mess it up inside?

If not, anyone have a G7 yet? How much are they selling for?

Allan

I just picked up the SD800 as we had a little one born 12/11 and figured the grandparents are going to need photos. I like it, works great, even does ok video.

Did you see my post Allan? I just sent in my old A60 and it came back good as new and no charge! I see they have a new model I think a 640? that looks about like it. Oh yeah, I have a dinky 510 I'd sell cheap.

I"m using a couple of old Kodak DC215 digitals that I bought cheap on Ebay. They use a compact flash card. Only one MG pixel but seem to do a really good job. Better, I think than some later models with more resolution. They are well built with an exception: the battery holder and latches are a source of breakage. I bought a replacement latch for one of them with instructions, and it took me several hours to put it in--maybe just due to my lack of fine skills.

Allen- review of the G7 looks good. Looks like around 480-550 BIG ones, then of course extras.

Allan,

I imagine if you watch the small parts and ground yourself and the camera before hand (to prevent electro-static discharge) you'll probably be ok.

Isopropyl alcohol might be a good cleaner? Ahh... give it a try.

Wife just surprised me with a Nikon L5 for my birthday last night. She had good feedback from her family on that model. We'll see how it works, and I'll report in.

Nathaniel

I know nothing about cameras!!!!

But the camera I use is a Cannon that is 8 years old that I won as a door prize at a vet clinic.

Had it 4 years before we figured out how to run it.

Never used it till I started posting pictures on here a year ago.

Now the wife wants a new one cause this one is always in the combine or something.

Gary

Allan there no way your Canon is that old, I've got a 17 year old several thousand dollar at the time digicam around here somewhere and it is only 320x240 black and white with extra blur feature it seems. The memory doesn't come out of it and it uses a serial cable to talk to the computer.

Your pictures come out sharp and colourful, although the subjects look like they may have been a more common barnyard sight that many years ago.

I dunno, it's old that's for sure.

Yes, it is hooked up via serial port and will only take in the neighborhood of 33 shots.

It was the latest and greatest at that time and I remember it cost something awful.
