Who else besides me has AOL started charging for Broadband, when you neither applied for, nor received this service? I suspect there are thousands of us.I read something on this site about Florida residents having a problem. Experiences and advice will be much appreciated from everyone. Thanks. I have never used AOL, I have never subscribed to it, and I do not ever intend to. Nevertheless, AOL subscription charges started showing up on my credit card statement, and after a little investigation I found out that it was indeed AOL submitting those charges. How they got ahold of my credit card is beyond me, but after a lengthy process, I did get it straightened out, and the charges were refunded, and I guarantee that AOL will not attempt such a thing with me again. Anyone who is using AOL should be warned, and drop them fast.

A few years ago a $100 charge showed up on my checking account as an AOL Club of some sort. After 4 or 5 days of agonizing phone calls, most of which were to people in India, and the worst case of runaround I've ever experienced I found out that by cashing a $5 check that AOL has sent me for being a "valued customer" automatically signed me up for the $100 charge!

I don't think I've ever been so mad and my blood pressure so high as when I was dealing with this problem. Of course I was able to cancel, but it took almost two months to get the credit back to my account. Of course when I told AOL I wanted to cancel my internet service they offered me all types of lower prices to stay with them. It floors me how they will give you a lower price if you whine and complain, but if you are a good loyal customer they stick it to you every month.

I will never, and I mean never have anything to do with AOL internet service again. And I will tell anyone who will listen what a bunch of liars and cheats these guys are.

A few years back when aol was about the only internet around we signed up for it . then changed to Earthlink tried to cancel AOL called time after time they kept taking out every month until the time ran out on your credit card "expiration Date" . Then they tried ot get new date . I would neaver have any dealings with AOL again they as same as stole about $300 from us .

Steve I was at on time on AOL dial up and chanded to Sudden Link broadband and after about four months I change to AT&T DSL and never regreat the change. The price of the AT&T is so much cheaper than AOL and SuddenLink that its worth the change to me.

I live in Paris Tx which isnt far from Texarkana.

I would suggest to check with AT&T if AT&T is your phone provider to see if you can get DSL.
