I"m unable to get my SC to run smoothly.By pulling of the spark cables by cyl #4 the rpm change very little if any pulling of # 2 the engine really goes down in rpm. It"s not the cables and mag.since I"ve changed the positions on the mag (moved all cables one position and also the setting) with no change.valves seem to have the right spacing.
What could it be?

check to see if you have a broken valve spring on #4 cyclinder.

Sounds like you've checked about every thing.Might try this , check for vacume leak at intake manifold, could be enough to cause a miss .lol

Hello Ken in Texas
You made me think and I removed the valve cover to see what is happening. Keep in mind that # 4 sounds like it runs at 50% when removing the wire when running but #2 has a push rod that"s bend So now I have to locate a new Pushrod anyhow thanks for your input

So far nobody has mentioned carburetion. Maybe a dirty or plugged sediment bowl or screen, fuel filter, something in the carburetor. On the ignition, make sure the points open the proper amount. They don"t run well when the points open almost not at all.

While it may have more horsepower if you overhauled it, I do not think low compression is your problem. 95-100 should run smoothly. Are you SURE you have the spark plug wires on correctly? Make sure you know which way the rotor turns, and recheck your firing order/plug wires. You may have two of them switched around. Also, are you sure your plug wires are good/carrying strong spark?

Forgot to mention has new plugs. Switched the cables and plugs around checked the compression and it's between 95 and 100 psi for all cylinders.

could be a # of things sounds to me like its yur basic problem a fouling plug but, if its not that it could be from the way i understand what you have said just could be the cylinder with a hole in it or could be bad rings think i would change the plug first and go from there never know one of these guys on here will give you better advice im sure.
