I have a 4020 diesel and a gas motor. The gas motor is appart and needs rebuilt wich you could do yourself for around $1600.00 in parts from deere. The diesel is still in the tractor and I'm not sure I would let go of It. I just put a 404 out of a 6600 into a gas 4020 and made a real tractor out of it. my location is Illinois. Yours?????

Did you read on here where a guy put $20K plus in an old 1066. (smile) I saw a 7140 sell for $26500. not to long ago. Looked like it was real good. I never did like that cab on the old 1066's. Its crawl up, the door hits you in the back side, step back in to the cab, turn around and sit. The tractor you are trying to buy sounds like it has had real good care. Lots better than most.

I have been following your posts on this subject. My advice is that if you want a 4020 diesel, then buy a 4020 diesel. If you want a 4020 gas then buy a 4020 gas. A good-condition 4020 diesel will hold its value or actually appreciate, but if you buy a gas and do a jerry rig conversion to diesel, then I doubt you could even get 70% of your money back. Tom

Well the Gasser is so cheap and such good condition it is HARD to pass up on it, but I would rather have a diesel....It would be very difficult to find a diesel in this kind of condition..
