Hmmmm,

Now, what was that I was saying about getting this old tractor done today?

Think this cab has developed a small leak from the looks of it. :>)

Allen, I got three rolls of 3/8" thick foil faced automotive insulation I'm going to put in one of our 1066 cabs to see how much I can quite it down. I figured I'd start at the fuel tank and insulate everything I can from there back to stop as much noise and heat as possible from reaching the cab. I think the hoods on those tractor's act like an echo chamber that funnel all the noise back into the cab so I want to try to stop the noise before it gets to the cab.

Ya, that's for sure.

Also, they tell me to take the floorboard out and put a 2" thick foam "blanket" between the tractor and the floorboard, then ABSOLUTELY replace all of the isolater washers, rear hydraulic and dash pads and a new floor mat.

Dunno, gonna give 'er a try and see what happens. :>)

If I remember right that cab is going on your 966. Are you painting and re-upholstering it first?

Yes Sir,

It needs a heck of a lot of work done to it and I was hoping to get 'er in my garage for the remainder of the winter. Not to be tho, so we'll attack the problem outside in the elements. :>)

I'm going to strip my 966 down and give all the "open station" stuff to Gary so that his tractor will be ready to go to work when he gets it to Iowa.

I don't need mine anyway and it can just "set" torn down out in the yard until I get that cab rebuilt, reinsaluted and repainted.

With that cab off now, she still won't go inside the garage? Bummer. You're like me. A heated shop big enough to fit your largest piece of equipment is high on my dream list. However, we're so far behind financially that one is not in the picture for the foreseable future.

I hear that.

The last 80 x 50 foot building I put up cost me $14K. Doubt if I could even get the floor poured for that nowadays.

What the heck, ya do with what ya got, I guess and right now all I have is sky. :>(

Some of those cabs had aerodynamics issues to start with.
