Any one have an idea on how many amps the stock light selector switch can handle. I have the stock lights on each side of the hood, the rear light, plus I added 1 light to each fender. The switch started smoking this morning when I was getting the generator all hooked up. Was able to see a red glow in the back of swith through a panel space. Am I better off just adding independent switches with the additional light that are mounted? Whats a new OEM switch cost anyhow?

'Bout $38 as I remember.

I dunno, lots and lots of IH tractors used four fronts and the rear flood. That resistor should only work on dims.

Are you sure you weren’t seeing the junction block smoking? They ALWAYS need replaced and really are a fire danger if there is any spilt diesel fuel/accumulated dirt present. Mounts horizontally right below that light switch.

Thanks for the tip Allan, that could be it. I did smell that burning plastic smell. Guess I 'll get to learn another part of the ol tractor. Debating also on looking at that 1206 15 miles north of me that was in photo ads. A low T/A out isnt that bad of a repair is it?

You would need to double split the tractor to remove the center section were the TA resides. Not to bad of a job but you need to throw together a set of splitting stands. You also need a good cherry picker or overhead hoist. Your going to spend at least $1500 in parts. Rebuilt TA, gaskets, pto drive gear, bearings, spring kit for MCV and maybe new MCV pump plus other surprises you might find when you get in there.
