depending on how close your unit is correctly rated for btu`s, the standard by which we in the propane business use is that; 96,000 btu`s uses 1 gallon of liquid propane per hour (( 1 gallon liquid is in the area of 264 cubic feet of vapor which is what your burning))

Randy,
Great timing! I am looking at the same heater on propane also.

Did you get any type of monthly cost estimates to run? Your shop looks roughly 32x48.

Did not get any estimates but knew it would be cheaper than forced air. The shop is 40 x 50 and will have R30+ in the ceiling and R19 in the walls so it should be pretty efficient.

I ended up with the 40 foot 100,000 btu unit recomended by the dealer in Omaha.

Randy,
Thanks for the reply.

I would be very interested to know how much propane you use. I am just starting my insulation next week.

Looks good. I've got a reznor nat gas heater in my garage. It heats it up pretty quick here in MN. But I loose a lot of heat through the garage doors. Next time I build a shop, I've doing the in floor heat... My neighbor has it back at the farm North Dakota...winters are a little bit colder up there!

26RED----I put up a astro building and use 36x27 as my new shop. Put in floor heat system in. R-30 in ceiling and R-19 in walls with a 11x10 insulated garage door. Use a 40 gallon propane hot water heater to heat glycol solution with.
I'm in southwest iowa and keep it about 63 degree's in shop. Very comfortable because heat is rising up around you without blowing by like with forced air. Would do it again. Just FYI.
