Hi Gang;
Just heard the breaking sad news. Landini who own McCormick have announced that the

McCORMICK TRACTOR FACTORY IN DONCASTER ENGLAND IS CLOSING DOWN !!!!!

Production will be transfered to Landini factory is Italy. Dont know what models will be built there.
So ends tractor production at Doncaster when International started building tractors & implements in the early 1950's.

SAD DAY.

David

Hi Dave, This is a real shock. They built some great tractors over the years. There are a lot of them here in Canada, Mine was built there, it's a 574 and it's been a great tractor.
When Case bought IH they closed the plant in Hamilton Ontario so we lost a good industry here. Seems a lot of different industries are being bought out by large corperations, then they close some of them down. One way for them to eliminate the competition. Case needed the engineering expertese in there case. I feel for the employees that work there. It makes it hard to find new employment when a whole industry closes [btdt]. merry xmas..... Eldon in Ont.

Always sad to see plants close, & people lose jobs.. Skilled workers that will not usually be able to find good jobs again.. We see it every day here, plants close, skilled workers wind up flipping burgers or working at a convenience store.. The future does not look so good for manufacturing.. A lot a talent going to waste..

I wonder why companies in our countrys (U.S. and U.K) sit back and watch this happen. I guess they make more money selling Tee shirts with their logos on them, than they do selling tractors. I guess the in the next big war, we will inport our beans and bullets as well as our farm equipment. SAD!!
