Just wondering if anybody has thier own purifier system.
I would think that it would pay off after a while
What about a settling tank? Anybody got a fuel system made up and if so, does it work well?

Hi Frankiee,

I pump from a aux tank into my main tank. From my aux tank I first filter thru a Racor 10micron filter then thru a Dahl 2micron filter then into my main tank where it gets filtered again by the stock engine filter(s) either on my F350 or my tractor. My main tanks are never filled from pump diesel.

The aux filters are lasting longer than I thought they would so I over bought new filter stock. 99% of my fuel I get from Flying J.

This seams to work well for my usage.

Southern Cal and central Arizona has been using ULSD for the past 4yrs as we were the nations test bed for the new fuel. Get ready for your fuel mileage to drop about 1mpg to 1.5mpg average. You'll noticed how they waited for winter diesel usage to get into full swing before switching over the ULSD so most people wouldn't notice the fuel mileage loss.

I use a 4006 NAPA or corresponding Wix on my main tank. Its a water block filter. Normally change it once per year. I used to change them more often but I cut them every time and they were clean. My supplier filters into and out of his bulk tanks, and off his truck. Plus he supports his fuel, gel up or water/dirt failure anywhere in continental US he will bring clean fuel and filter change on site, no charge.

First off, always buy fuel from a reputable supplier that will stand behind their fuel should something go wrong. We have a water separator type fuel filter on the farm supply tanks, and another one on the field service tank in the pickup. And of course we change the fuel filters on the tractors/combine at least once a year.

Yes, that is what I wanted to know.
Just the design of how others keep thier fuel oil clean. Thanks
The purifier I was refering to is really called a centrifuge separator.
We had them on ships to clean the fuel oil before the filters. I never priced one but wondered if it would save any to have one. I think not but I was wondering if any of the large operations (or small) had them to make sure the fuel was clean.
We pushed a barge which we sometimes carried 18 and a half million liters of diesel of gasoline of jet fuel. It was surprising how much crud was in the bottoms of the tanks when we cleaned it out.
All the ships had these separators because it would be costly if water or crud did get into the fuel system. Also it could be costly if the engines quit because of crud and when aground.

So I am just wondering what others do to ensure thier fuel is clean.
I might learn something and do as they do.
Thanks

I have filters on my fuel barrel and filters on my tractor.

Does that qualify as a fuel purifier?

What are they? Describe a little please.

Gary
