Stopped at Timberlodge Steakhouse in St. Cloud Mn yesterday with the wife. I ordered the ribs and she ordered the "feild and Stream" mix and match. She ordered the steak and walleye. Well she started eating the fish and it was full of small bones. I said to give me a bite- It was fricken northern pike and them were Y bones. Tasted like crap. Complained to server and he says "Oh well it is Pike some times is you wanted the Walleye you have to order the Walleye dinner. Well the freaking menu said WALLEYE fillet, nothing but pike. They did give her 3 broiled shrimp to make up . Did not lower price, manager didnt apologize for the scam or anything. I will not be returning to A Timberlodge ever again and will let people know our expeirience, what a scam, They seem to think that we Minnesotans cant tell the difference beween Walleye Pike and Northen Pike. Pricks.

The timberlodge steakhouse has taken a dive in quality over the last few years. Last time we went to one in Minneapolis (maple grove) is was terrible. At least you can still get a good steak in North Dakota!

The sauce was good, the ribs them selves were over "baked" not juicy like a good smoked rack. A little too much smoke flavoring also. I am sure they are just purchased from Appert and reheated. Best ribs are from Jack n Jims in Duelm MN, only the prime rib beats it.

Been there once or twice- just thought it was nothing special but overpriced. Here's a STC KFC story- I'm in a local theater group that puts on an annual Santa play for mentally challenged home clients and local youngsters. A member went to KFC, asked if they would give her an EMPTY cardboard KFC chicken bucket to use as a prop. Clerk said no. Manager came over and told her the same thing. She ended up buying $11 bucket of chicken just to get the bucket. Another member owns a bus company. Says he'll get even- will show up with 70 kids and when they want the order, he'll explain why they're going somewhere else.

Hey Dave, how far from St Cloud are you? I`m about 50 miles west. I have eaten at that Timberlodge twice and really wasn`t that impressed either time. My wife loves pasta, so she likes the Olive Garden. She finally drug me in there about five years ago. I had their T-bone, it was the best steak I had ever eaten, better than anything I had at Outback or Timberlodge. SO now when she suggests the Olive Garden, I jump in the truck so fast I darned near leave without her. That is a rip off, if their advertising walleye and serving poorly filleted pike. I`d bet most people don`t even catch it.
Personally, I like northern alot better than walleye. It has to be filleted right with all the Y bones removed. To me it has alot better taste and meatier texture. I`ve eaten alot of fish and never figured out why people make such a big deal out of walleye, but that`s just me. Well, have a good one Brokenwrench

I was hoping someone would defend the taste of jackfish (Northern Pike to you that are S of 49). All a matter of preference and everyone is entitled to it. On the other hand I'd have to be pretty hungry before I'd eat catfish, sucker burbot or carp.

Several resturants were on one of the TV news exposure ratings booster deals last year, they don't have real walleye tho they are advertising it on the menu. Seems it is a general problem, seemed it was just business as usual & one could tell once the cameras went away, it would again be business as usual....
