Dead tractor starter to good battery source. now.. you will have to have some juice in the 'dead' tractor battery.. or she won't start... Points run on electrons..

I believe your tractor is positive ground. You would still put the positive cable from your jump battery to the positive battery terminal on the NAA. If it is 12 v then leave it on only a very short time.

DO NOT connect a 12 volt battery to a 6 volt battery unless you'd like it to blow up in your face!

Better way (and way more safer too)is to hook jumper cable direct to the starter on the disabled tractor, with ignition on. MAKE SURE TRANSMISSION IS IN NEUTRAL FIRST!!!! So it doesnt drive over you when it starts!

The starter doesnt care if it is 6 volts or 12, the rest of the electrical system is not quite so forgiving.

I guess we are opening a can of worms. It would be best not to use a 12v at all and an NAA has a safety switch that will NOT allow it to start in anything BUT neutral. Sorry for the commotion.

You are 100% correct. Even if jumping with another 6 volt battery, it is safer to do it that way.

When using jumper cables, the positive post of each battery is connected, likewise the negative posts of each battery are connected. + to +, - to -. Makes no difference if one battery is positive ground and the other battery is negative ground.

Sorry, but never, ever do it that way! For your safety!

Connect the first jumper to the appropriate battery posts and then connect the other jumper to the good battery and then to a suitable point well away from the discharged battery, as this connection may well produce some sparks. No sparks at the battery means less chance of an explosion.
