Finally got caught up on the back post after getting to Port Isabel. There was one where RustyFarmall was between jobs wonderin' what to do next. Got me to thinkin'.

I've been in Avionics most of my career. Every plane has a transponder and an altimeter that has to be tested every two years by a repair station rated to do that. So pilots (Farmers/Ranchers) had to fly, often a hundred miles or so to a facility to have this done wasting a lot of time. Since I was between jobs I got to thinking why not get a plane and the equipment and go to them. I did. The business was great. One day a guy made be an offer I couldn't refuse. Trained him for two years and now he has the business.
I'll never forget while flying over eastern CO, western NE and KS seeing those staggered rows of green (sorry Allan) harvesters cutting wheat or corn, some times six or eight of them. Wish I had taken pictures of that. Bet I could have sold them. Hey!!!! that's it I'll start taking pictures of farms at different times of the year and sell then to farmers. Yeh, I could start with Allan. I'd get him to level out that landing strip on his place, fill in those badger holes and buffalo wallers, land there pick him up with that big expensive camera he's got and he could take pictures of his place from 16,000 feet down to any altitude he wanted.
After all I was only 61 when I STARTED that roving transponder business. I should have one more business left in me.
Hey, Rustyfarmall, are you a pilot? May have a new career for ya!!!!! !!!

LOL (:>)

It amazes me he opportunities in this country. I wish I could start over and do it all over again. There are so many things I havn't done.

I have a friend in nearby town who is a semi-retired bnker and a piot. For years he has been taking farmpictures, mostly for records on tiling projects. Helps him pay for his plane and flying.

Airplanes are expensive. It really helps to be able to include it in a business and write it off.
