Whoever dreamed up that phrase had to have been dealing with someone like me.

Talk about a cheap tightwad!

Can't find my fin comb so I'm using a little pocket screwdriver. Kind of a slow process. :>)

Looks like a project we could all participate in. When you get winded on it, put it in a box with your field-expedient tools, and mail it to someone on the board, to work on it for awhile, and so on around the board, til somebody finishes it, then they could send it back to you. It'll surely be done by summer. No reason you should have all the fun :>)

Aw, that's not so.

You wouldn't believe how much relaxation I get from fiddlin' with this old iron. It's kinda like a "Therapy for old age" or something. :>)

Got to studying that outfit of yours. I didn't know that ya hooked 'em up like an implement and just "rolled" the things up and over to go off and on. Pretty slick the way that works.

Hardest part of the whole swap will be the wiring looms, but I can handle 'er. :>)

Hey! Ya wanna trade your tight, non-slop steering wheel for a "very loosey-goosey" tilt wheel setup? Hmmmmm ? I've got one that is..... ..well, how shall we say? Very well broke in. :>)

Sounds like the tilt steering wheel on dads 856 that my brother bought.

I don't think it was tight when it was brand new.

Check it before straighting those fins using your 125 PSI propane bottle as a leak test gas while holding the exchanger under water.

Is the other side the same way? Could you come in from the other side with a hacksaw blade or simmilar flat?

The inlet side is pretty darned good (aside from all the road-gravel I've blown out of it.

However, it's a four-pipe and they are built in a staggered configuration, so coming in from the other side isn't an option.

'Bout the only other choice is the check book, but darn! I really hate to do that when this one isn't leaking. :>(

Now.... If you make the sob story good enough I'll start a "Keep Allan Cool" fund. Take pledges and write a song... Any favorite performer you'd like to sing it?

Good luck with the project. I'll ask around localy

I admire your determination! But I have found that by the time I get that many fins straightened out with a screwdriver (or one of my wifes heavy styling combs Hint Hint...)I could have gone and got a fin comb! Don't ask how I know this!LOL

My friend who owns a Red Tractor Repair Shop sent this up to me as a replacement for my bad one, which has a torn line.

It has been lying about for some time in his shop, off a tractor but yet still mounted in the bottom of the old condenser box.

Looks like people been throwin' all kinds of odds and ends in the box and over time, the practice has just "smashed" down the fins.

Really don't want to drop the sheckles on a new condenser (read: very spendy!).

I have more time than money anyways. :>)

Naw, I'm cheap.

I've pitched this thing in the trash 3 times in the last two days and have fished it back out again.

Keep looking at it and thinking, "It's sound, if the darned fins were just straightened". :>)

Patience is a virtue.

Good things come to those that wait.

Persistance goes alooooong way.

Confucious say "Man who take time to straighten fin can keep cool"

Time is money. You have time, save money.
