The high bidder does have some red blood too, I just checked the buyer's feedback on Ebay and the latest thing (before the 5010) he purchased was a precleaner Ball jar for a Farmall! COurse that was less than $10, Must have been saving up for his 5010 :-)

More likely it was the shill bidders that were gold plated, and it was probably fake gold.

It went to a collector in Canada. Price is no suprise There are several JD collectore who would spend that kind of money on a number 1 tractor.

I have no doubt that it did go to a collector, but I'll bet there were still some shill bidders involved to run the price up.

A person in "cahoots" with the seller, who is bidding on the item, only to drive the price up.

If the shill bidder winds up with the item, no money changes hands 'cause the sale wouldn't actually happen, although the seller would still owe ebay fees.

I'm sure there was but you got those kind of bidders at every auction too, online or live.
