On my 2005 F 150 when at a stop light, if I push my break pedal a little hard it will go almost to the floor. The truck stops fine. The dealer says this is normal. In my 50 years of driving If a break pedal went to the floor any time it was break check time. I have about 14,000 mi on the truck, Any thoughts. Stan

Same symptoms that I had on a Granada once. After replacing the master cylinder I found a vacuum leak between the vacuum source and the brake vacuum booster. The leak was overcome by the higher vacuum until the engine idled down when stopped. You might check the vac.

Yep Stan,

Been down this road and back a thousand times with Ford customers.

Your "symptom" is a totally normal occurance.

Allan

It's normal. The brake system will bleed off excess pressure when sitting still AND the vacuum in the booster climbs and the calipers flex. The brakes operate fine when moving I assume.

"Doc, my shoulder hurts when I scratch my ear!"

"Don't scratch your ear!"

I have had my 05 F150 for 2 years and 20,000 miles. Never noticed it until I read your post and then tried it. Does same as your truck. Never had any problems stopping, so it must be normal. Pete

Stan, I read your post at work this morning and I checked my 2006 F-150 and it does the same thing. I also checked mine for any DTC cades after that and there were none. Greg

I would get another opinion from another mechanic or a neibour with a truck like yours.
In your 14ooo miles have the brakes felt better.
Could be expanding brake flex line about to brake or a wheel bearing going or rear shoes out of adjustment....etc.
I would get another opinion from somewhere.
My opinion is that it is not normal.

Kinda like the ambulance district here, three had a low brake pedal and one had a high pedal.I never did get it through there heads that the high pedal was the bad one
