Some farmall 450 were equiped with 15.5 X 38 on 14 inch wide rims. Ones equiped with smaller tires used rims less wide. Think farmall 450 was first IH tractor to use 15.5 X 38. Most common rim sizes were 11, 12, 14 X 38 rims and tires run from 11 X 38 up to 15.5 X 38. Think 44 inch rims and tires were a option and also steel wheels.

I think it would have been the 12-13.6 X 38" with the 15.5 comming a few years after tractor was built

When new it would have had a few differant one depending on what was ordered with it. It could have had 12X38 or 13X38s which now would be 12.4X38 or 13.9X38. 15.5X38 work well on them. A friend has a 450 with 13.9X38s on it

Books of that era - 1956 +/- show 13.6-38. I suspect they may have had a 1 size upgrade to 14.9-38. Size markings have not changed since then - but the earlier tires of the same size would have been 12-38 and 13-38 respectively. As far as I can tell, the 13.9 size was a slightly lower profile (actually shorter than 13.6) used primarily on JD 620/630 in the 36" rim size - can"t find any 13.9-38. The 15.5 size was again a lower profile version compared to the 14.9 and again I can only find it in the 38" rim size, but it became popular as a replacement for 14.9-38 and by the late 50"s / early 60"s it was the only way to go for that size tractor. Hope that helps.
