I knew the battery was on it's last legs.
It also was gonna need $1000 worth of brakes, tires in another 10K miles, a fuel modulator valve and with 140K miles who knows what else.
I almost pulled the trigger on a new one last summer but didn't quite. Tax lady told me then I could use the deduction.
So I got a neighbor to jump it and drove it to the dealer.
Found a new 06 just like my 02 except it doesn't have quite as many gizmos inside. I can live with that.
At least it has a good battery...
A guy's got to brag a little doesn't he?
I hope you don't mind.

Too bad you live so far away. We were thinking about selling our 03 4WD. It only has 98,000

140k and that many problems already? Battery didn't last over 4 years?

I thought the newer vehicles lasted a good bit longer than that - I've been looking at Chevy Suburbans with 150k on them, mainly because they're in my price range and I've seen many Chevys with 200k+ on the odometer...

Just for reference on the battery, my Dad's 98 Ford F-150 still has the factory battery in it... we are waiting for it to die.

Good luck with the new truck, hard to find a single cab these days!

Steven,
Actually I bought it in Sept of 01 so it was 5 years old.
Sad to think I spend that many miles and hours cooped up in that steel box every year.
It was the most problem free vehicle I've ever owned. 139743 miles on the original front brake pads! I got nearly 84K miles on the factory tires.
I drove Fords for years but they never gave me this kind of longevity on OEM tires, brakes etc.
I just can not say enough good about these Chevys.
