I have a 97 Dodge Ram 1500 with tow package. I have tandem axle trailer with electric brakes. All the lights and brakes work on the trailer except for the parking lights. The connection is a 7 pin flat. When I hook my small trailer with a 4 pin connection the parking lights dont work with that one either. The problem is in the truck I am assuming. What could be the problem?

Either hook the truck to a known good trailer or a known good truck. Also trsiler places have tools tha hook into truck plug and tell you instantly whats wrong.

There is another fuse under the hood near the left fender. Look on the lid for the decal for which fuse it is. If I remember, it is fairly high amp and there was not an extra one for it.

could be a fuse for the trailer plugs. not familiar with Dodge but Ford has another fuse block under hood for the trailer plugs. Once in a while one will blow.

Check the truck's wiring to see if the source is connected to tail light terminal. Sometimes the more practical electricians connect the trailer tail lite to the headlite switch because the circuit breaker offers more amperage than the tail lite fuse. We used to always wire our trucks that towed anhydrous wagons like that.

I assume they worked at one time with that truck.

If so it might be the ground.

Sorry disreguard that last post I read yours wrong.

The wire for the parking or tail lites which are the same on a trailer must be bad somewhere on the truck.
