Still in search of my needed cab'd, gear drive, heated tractor. Going to look at an 1105 massey in the morning. Sposed to be 10 deg so I figure it to be a good test on how she starts. Once again I ask the wise folk here, What should I look closely at on this here model. In the past I have driven quite a few massey, always was impressed. But I honestly never dealt or worked on a 1105. She will be being used for 30-130 acres of "we'll see what pays" farming. I DO NOT want to do any more tillage with the Hydro and a larger cabed tractor will be the ticket for spreading 12 semi loads of my chicky turds in January!!

I have one, use it all winter long and it starts good. Cab is real big and roomy and it has a nice multi-power shift that is real usefull.

basically they are good.

steering can be fun but what 30yr old tractors steering aint Oh ya deere's but they are not bad.

Cabs... nice and roomy and noisy but better than everything -- but..... ya

the did have a problem when they were new of mismatch bearings and races in the rear end... these were to have been redone under warrenty in 1978-- some got done by the pencil only but my guess is by now that would have done been fixed.

the 354perkins will do you good Our 1135's were not miserly on fuel but they were not bad either...

its not a bad machine at all.

1105 is a good tractor, Should start good if unloading valve is working. The cab is as good as most cabs of that era except JD's Sound Gard cab. It'll likely have Multipower which is one of the best 2 speed power shifts out there, just read the owners manual on how to operate it safely. I think the 1000 series Masseys are some of the best tractors ever made.

Dave,
Yes the cold temp will be a good test for starting. You might want to tell the guy not to start it that day.
I drove 125 miles once to look at an Oliver 1655 diesel once and asked the guy if he would not start it that day.Wouldn"t ya know it,the engine was warm when I got there! He said "the kid must have moved it".
He wasn"t gonna fool me.I turned and walked away PO"ed,I drove back home.
Anyway....I don"t know much about an 1105,but with a Perkins engine, that much is pretty much bullet-proof.

I have one and like it a great deal. the 354 perkins is miserly on diesel for the HP and is common enought that parts are available everywhere. I use mine for heavy work, tillage etc...

Don't know anything about the cabs on them, mine is open with a canopy, but they are good tractors. Nealy all of them in this area without cabs sell for about $8000 in good shape.

Hope that helps.

Dave,
Go to the MF board and enter "MF 1105" in the search box and read awhile.
