The cattle seem to get to the bunk quicker this morning.

They know when its a coming.

Does all livestock know when something is brewing?

maybe that's way cows and calves went thru last bale of hay so quick . a 1100 lbs bale will usually last them about 6 days i put one in sat and was gone this morning . getting filled up for weather coming in ? high today was 59 this morning 46 before noon . weather guesser says low of 8 sat morning . i hope electrican gets here tomorrow waterer in barn yard has wiring problem .

Yep they all know. Geese were coming thru here headed farther south last Saturday. My bones were aching last night before the front blew in. Nice balmy 33 here today so far in TX panhandle.

An old man I use to fish with alot said that when the cattle are lying down it was gonna be a bad day. Most of the time he was right. I have the best fishing days when they are up. Go figure. I think the high and low presure does something to them. just a thought. Have a great day. Tim

If you video tape near an electric fence, when you play it back you can hear the fence clicking as the power cycles on and off.

I'll bet plenty of animals can hear it and that is how they learn about it, once they are zapped once (or twice for the dumb ones) and know to go thru it when it is off.

Ditto high & low atmospheric pressure.

No scientific proof, just MHO.

I once had an Arabian Mare that would get out all thetime. I finally caught her with her head down "listening" to the fence. She would run through between pulses. I got a continious charger and that solved that!

Not livestock but...

On May 3, 1999, vicious tornadoes tore up Moore, Oklahoma City and several smaller communities. Earlier that day, my wife was hanging clothes on the line. Two possums came to within a couple of feet of her, she thought maybe they were rabid or had something else wrong with them. Minutes later, a bobcat comes to 10 ft or so from her, sits down and just watches her for a couple of minutes, then moves on just going about its business.

Abnormal behavior in both cases. She was kinda spooked by the time I got home from work.

Six inches of snow up here in Western Manitoba, and 25mph wind from the north west, temperature is 1f, but if you add windchill feels like -15f and that at 1pm, tonight is suposed to go down to-15f (-27f with windchill). The cattle still outside don't move too far from natural shelter. They sure seam happy when you go and feed them. OJ in Mb.

Gary is that some of that ear corn you were picking a month ago? Can't really till if it's shell corn or ground. Over here in west michigan cattle prices for fall calfs have been down here in the last month. What's your plan for the little critters?

Yes Matthew it's ground ear corn.

Just getting them use to it about the fifth day I've fed it.

I usually sell as 7 to 800 pounders in around Mar 1.

They are getting themselves ready for some cold weather. Up here in SD it's still only 5 above with a NW wind at 17mph.
The weather must be why the Swedes around here are making potato sausage.

Humans know also but thats just cause the weather man said so.

I do a little electrical work on the side and alot of it is fixing the heat on waterers.

Well I got 3 calls yesterday because its going to get cold and the last cold snap they weren't working.

If the weatherman hadn't said anything my phone would not have rung.
