Darned A/C won't cool. I suspect there are some pieces missing, but don't really know what. :>)

Latest project. This old tractor will blow cold air someday, I hope. Got the first step done anyhoo.

Hey Allen, are those condensor fans on top of the cab and exposed to the elements? I had those on my White and finally went with the condensor in front of the radiator. I got tire of not bein' able to figure it out - actually, I got tired of bein' hot.

After I looked at those Sanden comp. conversions you still needed that original bracket to mount it on. Maybe a rebuilt York compressor, hoses and check out Surplus Center for some enclosed Redmond motors for condenser? I use to get some motors from them that worked good on condensers.

Whhen I worked at the dealership in the late 70s the fan motors on the back of the cab on 66s gave the most trouble. I'd try to get condenser to mount in front of the rad like an 86 lot better system.

Allan, Didn't they use the same compresser that Ford used on there cars and trucks in the late 70's? My old neighbor had a 1466 with a/c and if my memory serves me correctly, my '79 f150 had the same compresser.

all you need to do is go to a travel trailer place and buy a airconditioner there then cut A hole in the cab and install very easy cob job and will freeze you out of the cab at 100+ degress

Naw,

All the factory air stuff is already in the cab. Controls, evaporator, condenser, receiver, switches, the works. It's all there.

I just gotta get a compressor bolted up to the old heifer and push some freon up to it. :>)

Allan,
Yours looks like my 1066, it cools great in the winter and is very toasty in the summer, so warm in fact it will run you out of tractor. LOL
Now if I can just them reverse I be in good shape.
keep us informed on it, as I need to get mine fix too, figure it is going to be pretty expensive.
JM

Yeah,

I can see an easy $1K in repairs coming at me.

But, the tractor would be pretty much useless without it in these hot Nebraska summers. All that darned glass really magnifies the heat.

The tractor was in such good shape when I bought it that I had originally intended on just using that silly swamp cooler if and when I had to.

However, the first time it "rained down my neck" that did it. That silly bugger is coming off there, no matter what! :>)

is it a rooftop selfcontained unit ? What runs and doesn't run. is the compressor running and the fan(s). Tell me aboubtnit and I may be able to help you as I know somewhat about AC etc.

Hi Henry,

Aw, I'm just foolin around here; I kinda know how it works.

Someone had installed a swamp cooler in the ceiling and it has to be yanked off and sent to the big huntin' ground in the sky.

I'm getting the original A/C system back in working order. Need the compressor, hose kit and gotta do something about those two missing condenser motors.

I just ran the parts order for everything I'll need and it looks like it's gonna cost an arm and a leg.

Those darned A/C parts are spendy! :>(

Just take the cab back off. The air will be plenty cool then. Plus, it'll give you a chance to cleanup and repaint the cab, and fix the door so it will work against the loader arms.
