This is the deer my hunting partner shot Saturday afternoon on our farm. Said he acted like a buck when he tried to sneak past him in the field. When I tried to retrieve him, with a pallet on a fork lift on the back of the tractor, I needed help to drag him the few feet to the pallet and up on it. He was a pretty good sized bruiser. When I checked for horns, he had none! Just a couple if stubs, less that a inch high. Both appeared to have broken off just above the base. Had the proper equipment below, in fact quite an impressive set. However, he had to suffer the great indignity of being tagged with a "doe" permit! My son Michael is shown in the picture to provide a scale (reference) - he"s 5" 11", weighs 210#.

Ray that looks like a Vestaburg silo. Any chance you know the name of it and if it was made in Vestaburg, Mi.???
Had on on our farm in Clare.

Lenray, You"re good - it is a Vestaburg silo. Vestaburg is about 15 miles east of us. Parts of the factory still exist there!

I missed a nice buck on a Saturday morning and killed him on Monday morning as a doe. He lost his horns from Sat. to Monday.

If that was the case in Texas, legally you would have to tag it as a buck.

I actually seen a buck we were pursuing drop his head while running and snap off both of his antlers and didn't miss a step while doing it. My buddies didn't believe me until after we loaded the buck and went back and found the antlers. chris

Michigan"s antlerless tag has a place for you to punch "male" and that is the way we punched it!

These antlers were broken, early in season, probably shortly after, or maybe even before velvet was off. He had quite a bit of wear on the stubs. Assume he was a dominant breeding buck in spite of his "shortcomings"!
