Can anyone tell me what this is?

Looks more like a self propelled powerplant than a tractor. Am I wrong or does this thing drive on all three wheels. Why would a powerplant drive on all wheels? Just can't imagine hooking anything to the back and pulling it.

Never saw anything like it, but it looks to me like it just drives on the single back wheel and steers on the front. The front looks like what passed for brakes in those days. They would not have had the technology to make it three wheel drive with a chain drive system.

There was a tractor called the Glasgow made in Scotland during the First World War period that was very similar in layout to the tractor shown and had all wheel (3 wheel) drive, but the driver sat very low down almost beside the rear wheel.
