I have a f40 ferguson, I runs just fine after it warms up. But it is hard to start when it is cold, even if it 95 degree outside. The only way to get it going, is to close the throttle, and it will start, but don"t try to move it, or it will stop runing the secound the throttle is open a bit. after it warm up abit, it is ready to work all day, and start as well. It all starts over again the next day. same thing had to start. what with that?

I have the same problem with a TO-20 and a fellow on this board told me to close the gas shutoff valve when the tractor wasn't being used and start the tractor before you open the valve. It works. I don't think much of the gas we buy today and the gas could be the real problem.

Just sounds a little lean to me, gotta choke right? Or it could be like my old Case, where the choke shaft comes out of the carb the arm that was peened onto the end of the shaft was loose and the choke shaft was froze in the open position, from the outside you thought the choke was working till you looked close and saw the shaft wasnt turning, once we fixed that I could thottle up if needed right away with partial choke....just a thought

We had a 340 Internationl that way when I was a kid. You just get to know their little ways. I never thought there was anything wrong with it.
