The clutch unit and variable speed pulleys are probably worn out and need replacing. It's not that bad to replace it yourself either and wore and done a few of them before ourselves. Pulling loads on them at slow speeds wears them out faster too. That's why the newer ones with better hi lo range or a standard trans are better if you plan to pull loads with it a lot.

The belt needs proper adjustment and shims otherwise it will never work good. It don't matter the brand. Also, don't buy cheap belts, they don't last.

Get yourself a service manual and learn how to properly adjust the belt.

You should consider an Arctic Cat 500 before a Honda! We have a Polaris 500 Magnum and a Polaris 250 Sportster so Polaris is not new to us but after trying an Arctic Cat I was convinced and now have one, a 2007 Red 500 with all the Whistles and it is super. Quieter than the Polaris,Rides better, More Ground Clearance and a 2" Reciever which we made a Cargo Box !6" wide x 24"long by 6"deep with a Screened bottom for dirt to shake out mounted on a 2" tube for inserting into the Reciever Hitch.Lots of features that make it a nice machine to own. We still have the two Polaris's for when Company comes but I prefer the "Cat" when I go riding.I am aware of the "Suzuki" Heritage so don't bring that up as that is a plus in my opinion.

Of the 17 reply's to this thread (including this one), fully 12 have come from YOUR IP address. Seems to me like you've got a lot of time on your hands, because you've started several other of these crap threads before this one today.

Seems to me if Kim wants some crap to clean off this board, then here's a good place to start...

i have a polaris sawtooth, had a problem with water getting in the belt drive, ate up the belt. the machine doesnt like water, there is no drain out. being yours keeps eating belts, i would first check the belt alignment, then the clutch springs ect. also jack up the machine and be sure the rear axle spins freely, you may have a bearing going out causing excess drag, or the rear brakes are hanging up.
