Kubota antifreeze leak

I have an L1501 but I don’t know the year. I thought that a Kubota was a Kubota I didn’t know that there was such a thing as a gray market tractor until after I bought it. I have used it for about 3 years and have not had any problems until now. It has started leaking antifreeze into the clutch area. The antifreeze is coming out around the bolts by the timing mark cover on the right side of the tractor. I can not see any leaks in the area between the back of the engine block and the front of the transmission. There is no leakage that I can see at the freeze plug in the back of the block. I have taken the tractor apart between the engine and the transmission. I do not see any area where antifreeze could leak. There are no freeze plugs behind the bell housing. Can antifreeze come out around the crankshaft? Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks

Do the bolts in that timing cover extend into the waterjacket? Some engines have that on some components, and a sealant needs to be there.

This may be a stupid question, but have you actually removed the flywheel and adapter plate and double checked for a plug in behind there. If you have, I appoligise. Some engines will have a core plug down low like that....
Otherwise, I would pressurise the cooling system and see where the fluid is escaping. It could be a crack that only opens up when the engine is warm, and expanded. Dunno what else to tell you. Good luck.

This is a stretch of an answer, but here goes. Normally engines cannot leak antifreeze out from around the crankshaft. But, you have an engine built for and designed for the Japanese market, and no one knows what they do over there for their own use. Unless the block has a crack in it or a casting that was pourous and just finally let go, there are not a lot of places antifreeze can leak. Normally it will be at the head gasket, freeze plugs, thermostat housing, etc, anywhere there the water jacket would be. Probably the easiest way to tell where it is coming from it to drain all the antifreeze from the system, seal up all the water ports, put some water with some coloring in it, then pressurize the block, then you should be able to find your leak, but you only want about 10-15# of pressure, otherwise you could blow a gasket.

Yes I have pulled the flywheel and the bell housing cover. I do not see any freeze plugs or leaks. There appears to be a single piece rear main seal that I have not removed, not sure what is behind it of if I can get a replacement. I have not tried to pressurize the cooling system, but that is my next thing to try. Antifreeze could be seen at the time cover bolts after about 1 minute run time. I don't see how that could be long enough for the block to expand. There was water/antifreeze in bottom of the bell housing. The pressure plate and the flywheel are very rusty. There is an oil film behind the flywheel but I did not see any rust stains or rusty cracks. This is my first diesel engine so I am unfamiliar with the technology. I am told that the L1501 is the same as the L185 except for the PTO drive, but who knows.
