I'm late getting here so mine is about what little I did today.Up at six for the third time since midnight, older fellows will know what the first two were about.Picked up two of the grandkids and took them to school.Delivered a oil heater to my sister for her cold natured, and bald preacher husband to use in his study. This was done to rid my mind of the image of him with no hair, sitting at his desk holding a blow dryer. This is all true.Went to breakfast at a country resturant with my bride, took her to the doctor. Then finally back home, took a short nap,and tinkered with my Ford 2000 4 cyl by taking the bush hog off and draining the gas and put it in the basement for the winter.I've spoiled this little tractor, letting it stay in the house with me.Have a list to do to it soon, lifter and valve cover gaskets, new rear tires, and maybe electronic ignition.Balance of the day spent in the shop rewiring a`air compressor and putting new sights on a 22 rifle. As they say,"Marching pays the same as fighting",I just marched today.

put together a mineral feeder, put up some poly wire on a set of hay fields the cattle are grazing for the next month, and went to look at a barn that is impossible to get to that a guy wants some delivered to. Oh, and shot the charge out of my muzzle loader that has been in it since last year and reloaded some .357 mag. shells - deer opener tomorrow.

Well lets see what I plan to do today, but if the plans I make are as usual I probably won't get all of them done and probably will go in a different direction anyway. 1. Take the Nissan UD to the tire shop and see if they can balance the front tires .
2. Do some more trimming on the California Pepper Tree in the back Yard, really ought to get some one to take it down. they are real messy.Good shade though.
3. Tuesdays are watering day in the Green House but that doen't take much time.Tomatoes and Yellow Bannana Peppers are doing real good.Tonight Salad with fresh Yellow Bell Peppers, Celebrity Tomatoes and Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce for starters.
4. Probably take a ride on the Artic Cat 500 Quad back to the Hassayampa River, see if I can pick up some more Jade or Indian Tear Drops. That's about it for another day of retirement here in the Arizona High Desert near Wickenburg.

Today it's raining and not much I can do except stay on the computer and check out my stocks on TDAmeratrade, Shop on eBay and read more about my 930 case tractor and visit with you folks on YT. I get 7 days off in a roll from work every 3 weeks and I'm in the middle of my 7 off and it's been crappy weather since. I hope it gets better. Time to go feed the Horses, mules, cows, geese, ducks, chickens and then me! I wish the wife wasn't working today or I'd play with her!!!! Chris Hotchkiss, CO

Within the next few days, I hope to finally put my 35 Case C back together, now that I have a new intake manifold for it.

Still wrenchin' on my IHC Loadstar. Hopefully by next spring, I'll have her road worthy, and ready to put together the new flat bed for it to haul tracors on...

Great idea Cowman!!

Todays more of the same for me. Still trying to rehab from my accident a month ago. 6 hrs passive leg motion (flat of my back), mixed with 6 hrs of 15 mins of flex exercise and 45 min bed rest. Learning to walk again at 39 sucks.

Weather here is a balmy 38 degrees, overcast. I'd hoped to be on the tractor by Christmas but Docs tell me the bone grafts wont be solid yet.

I'm living it out through what you guys are doing, until I get back to where I can. Great idea on the blog!!

Got on the computer early and lost $$$ trying to trade China Yuchai Diesel stock after a sharp downturn. Then going to Milwaukee to get my picture taken since I've been chosen for a 12mo. term on the Milw. Journal Sentinel Reader Advisory Board. Great chance to tell the newspaper about good/bad news coverage and editorial policy and leanings. Then I must get junk moved in the garage since I'm late on my 11/1 promise. Then buy a new chain saw. Hope to deliver Case 530 I sold several wks. ago and then go to Iowa and cover tarp some of my old junk for the winter.

Howdy,

Sittin at the parts counter right now watchin our dense freezing fog outside. Awfully slow here today and will probably stay that way with all this "dry" weather we're having. Lookin at another 1-2 incher tomorrow. After earnin my keep here today I'll head home to get my other rear tire off the R. Dad and I got the left one off last night but had to settle for taking one at a time since only one would fit in the Ranger's bed. Didn't realize how big they are. But by mid-week we should have two brand new Alliance tires on her and be ready to head back to fall plowin this Saturday.

Just about to head to the farm. Cows to feed and calves to feed and cats!. Think I'll head to the bush today. I have to cut a couple of logs for a bridge across the big creek at the back of the farm. Our shack is across the creek so the bridge needs to get rebuilt or we won't have any place to play cards and sip some beers every Saturday in the winter. Usually end up with 8 or 10 guys dropping in after the chores are done, makes a nice neighbourly environment, good visit with folks, lots of fun and we enjoy the cards. Old Powerwagon takes me to the bush but will need the tractor to haul the logs to the bridge site. This'll eat up the day

Bummer. I just love the feel of that rotary.

If your furnace needs to be replaced take a look at Geothermal.

Best investment I've ever made.

Cost 4 grand more to put in my new house but paid for itself in 5 years in energy saving.

Cost me less than $400 a year to heat and cool my house.

Your geothermal installation caught my attention. I'm considering a water to water closed loop system and will have a quote this week. Contractor says I need 3 vertical wells dug, 10' apart and 285 ' deep. He's a Water Furnace dealer/installer doing commercial and residental jobs.
He said to sit down and have a big glass of wine handy when opening up the estimate.
Question: Are you really 100% satisfied with yours ? Is is adequate in temperature extremes ?
What kind of ground system do you have ? I can't see any down side except for the huge upfront cost. I predict oil will double in 4 years and want to take some evasive action. Thanks for your thoughts.

I have 1600' of 1" plastic line buried in a pit 100 foot long by 20 foot wide by 7 foot deep.

Water circulates thru the line and is warmed by the soil or cooled in the summer.

Ask him about this type before you dig the wells.

The company that put in mine has put in over 500 units and 90% of them are pit not well.

Yes I am satisfied after getting the bugs out of the furnace the first year.

Unless your heating a large building I don't believe you need the wells.

Also ask about the hot water preheater from the exhausted heat in the summer.

Gary

Hi Gary...we're kinda working under primitive conditions. Building is an old slant sided Butler. We have already put the floor in cause we needed to move in a hurry. We have lots of old lumber we have saved up and lots of dry corn in pro-boxes. Just thought we could use some of this low cost heat until spring when I decide whether to stay in this building or put up a new one. I would really like to build a Bio-mass furnace and boiler this coming summer to burn corn stalks and bundled paper.

Wife is behind this project as well.

I don't usually work on Sundays and try not to do farm work as well on Sundays but I've been working on this addition all fall on weekends, nights and rainy days and its starting to wear on me.

I can see that light at the end of the tunnel now.

I work part-time at Glende-Nilson Funeral Homes; yesterday the manager told me to locate & purchase the equipment needed to video tape at funerals. So today I am perusing local sources to get a mini DVD camera & decent tripod.
As a former ND-MT farm boy turned Auto & Small Engines teacher, retirement sure brought a different career to me.

L have to stop at the tire shop and pick up the left front for my 1939 DC4-needed a new tube, then go out to the shed and put it back on the tractor. Also have to check for damage after yesterday's big blow.
After that, if the wind isn't blowing, come back to the garage and take both fronts off the Eagle Hitch D so the tires can be dismounted and the rims painted while I'm waiting on new tires.

I'm down here at the bottom 'cause last night my wife told me to take some Tylenol PM pills. She's been in the hospital for over two weeks now and may come home today!
Those pills knocked me out...slept 'til 10:15, got up and fed the horses and am sitting, bleary eyed at the computer! Hope to pick her up today!
