I pick ear corn to grind for feed for the calves after weaning.

Sometimes you don't need the newer equipment to do the job you want to do.

Now I can wean calves cause I got the feed.

Hey Gary, glad to see you are on the home stretch of harvest. Would love to hear the SMTA bark on that picker. We had two of the New Idea pickers and they still sit out back at the farm in Iowa. Hey I might have a lead on that air cleaner top for the SMTA. The guy is supposed to bring it by next week to let me see if it is the right one. Keep safe around those Pto shafts. Neat pictures. Nice looking outfit Gary,

Dad has a similar older New Idea like that, only his has a sheller on it instead of a husking bed.

I agree about the design limits. I look around at a neighbor with a 4400 JD and a 4 row head. He is moving reaaaaa ally slow through good corn. He did just upgrade to a newer 4425... but he still runs that 4400 also.

Looking good Gary. My calves have finally stopped bawling, and I moved the cows out to pasture today.

If it would have been nite I think the muffler would have been glowing.

The tractor and picker were not designed for 200 bu corn.

gary

We figured that 60 bu corn was about all the Dearborn picker would handle. Made a nice load for the SM or the 800 Ford with a 100 bu wagon.
