Anybody watching this TV show tonight. They had a combine crash derby and then demolished two barns. What a way to destroy some nice old combines.

combines come under the 50 rule, looked good from 50 ft away or on the TV but probably weren't useable any longer, worn out concaves, worn out everything ,froze up bearings, our club did a Combine Demo derby and the combine I had looked great from 50 ft. but the only thing that worked was the propel and steering parts of it...you can do wonders with a little bit of paint,Just ask anyone that tries to harvest with that vintage combines

Watching it right now. I never watched it before, but all they had to do was mention farming and I am glued to the TV. Waiting to see the cows.

Talk about makeovers, I get the Farm Show paper every other month, and about half the articles in it are old combines some farm engineer has made over into a hay loader, snowblower, or fork lift or something. Really neat stuff. They strip all the combine stuff off them and use the wheels, cab, motor, and hydraulics and make some pretty neat stuff.

I love that farm show magazine. The ideas in there are incredible sometimes. I liked the self propelled grain cart that a guy made from a New Holland combine. Had about 500 bushel bin, 3208 cat motor, hydro drive, nice cab, big unloading auger. Thing was awesome. Also the guy that took an old combine and had the big snow blade on there for pushing snow on his long driveway. Thing looked like it could push a lot of snow. Really a great way to use an old combine that cant harvest very good anymore. They have pretty stout drivetrains and warm cabs for winter. That magazine is a real treat every time I see it. My dad has a subscription to it.

Ever hear the saying "You can't beat a farmer with a stick welder."

Ya mj, that would be my moto. I keep metal till it gets to about 2 inches square, then it goes to the scrap pile, but I just can't stand something laying there without me figuring out something to do with it. And I have built untold items to help this old man out around the place. Mostly because I was raised by making do and I've never gotten past that.
