Depends on the series. For example, A Cougar III PTA270 would have a 3306 Cat 6-cyl, A Cougar III PTA280 would have a 3406 Cat 6-cyl, A Cougar II ST300 would have a D333T Cat 6-cyl. Book don't say if any of these are V6 or not. Don't think they are, But, I don't know for sure.

I have a 1982 Bearcat with a 270 horse 3306. Good motor. From my owners manual it lists a 220, 250 and 270 HP. There is an ID # stamped on the rear of the block, if I remember right, is on the left side near the top. You can contact Cat truck or equipment dealers with the complete number and they can tell you what you have. Case/IH dealers can also tell you as they are also Steiger. Hope this helps.

A lot of people swear by the 3306. The same cannot be said about the 3208. 3208's get mixed reviews. 3306's have liners in them. They are used in a lot of cat equipment. Dave

decent little motors but I had one and it kept breaking the short fuel line off pump and they have weak heads if they get to hot

3306 CAT engine, same one that is in a D6H. My next door neighbor has one he uses for row cropping. Think he paid $5000. Saw one in Wyoming for $8000.
