Hi Guys,

Animal kingdom is just plain upset today.

Young mare is in heat, gelding is acting like maybe he coulda been cut about half proud, babies can't find their mamas and all are fueding 'cause calves have displaced the horses out to the pasture.

Just not a happy day out there today. :>)

Allan

Not much sleep Sat. night, last night a little better. Yep, weaning time and I must say I am pleased and a little surprised that people in the new houses springing up around me are putting up with it. Just nothing pleasant about the farm for the next few days

The farm north of me was sold last year so there weren't (aren't) any cows there this year. In the past, it was a loud chorus during weaning. Probably won't get serenaded this year.

Allan

We call that "Moo Music" on our farm. We'll hear lots of it in early December.

The Buzz up here is that the feed lots are looking for preconditioned calves. The boom in the oil fields has made it difficult for feed lots to find help. To compensate they want preweaned calves that have had their shots and an ivermectin. Calves should have been weaned a minimum of 6 weeks. This way they walk off the truck at the feedlot, walk straight up to the feeder and start eating. Almost no sick calves to check for or treat. All fine and dandy, but whether there will actually be a premium on these calves when they go through the ring has yet to be determined.

John

Nice lookin' calfies. Just keep doin' what you're doin'. They can't bawl with their mouths full.

Heh... Weaning time is when we pay our neighbors back for their noisy four-wheelers.

Ya,

I figure 'bout three more days and the racket will subside. :>)

Used the little H to feed 'em their first "homecooked" meal. That outfit sure handles itself well for being such a little guy.

Shoot Allan just bring that mare down here and I have a very good stud horse that would make her happy. Or you could also buy him and then stud him out. LOL
